Photographing your wedding and the value in a memory.

There is a saying that goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words".  In an age where we are blasted with hundreds of images an hour from every direction and of nearly every topic you may ask is this saying still true?  Technology has evolved to the point where nearly every person with a smartphone or camera phone is using it to take pictures of something and everything.  So, with all this visual data being thrown around non-stop are we still able to say "a picture is worth a thousand words"?  My thoughts are, absolutely!  We are communicating through images to convey thoughts, ideas, emotions and life, right?  It would seem that a strong image continues to captivate and allure the mind without the need to speak a word.

As time blithely and unconcernedly passes around us, a photograph stops it in it's tracks and says, no, this moment we keep!  This one stays, so that we can remember in perfect detail what our mind will forget.  This is why we value photographs.  It is a value that we all posses and yet remains unique to only us.  A value that tells us to cherish this moment because our heart says we will.

What value do you place on a memory?  Your wedding will have countless moving parts.  It will take hundreds of hours of preparation and planning.  There will be details that take you days to decide on.  Ceremony and Reception venues, food and cake tastings, bridesmaids dresses and groomsmen tuxes, flowers, bands and DJ's, limousine rentals, hotel rooms to book, invitations to send and not to mention finding the perfect dress!....I could go on.... Of course, you will want a photographer to document this momentous occasion for you as well.

You are going to want a photographer to capture your wedding and all of the detail and hard work that made this day possible.  And when this day has passed and everything has calmed down and life has continued to move forward, you will forget about all of those details, and all that hard work and decisions you made for that day to happen.  You will forget what your food tasted like, and how perfect all of your centerpieces were.  You will forget the songs the band played that you danced too and you won't remember what kind of table linens you had at your reception.  Fortunately, you do have something left that you will value above all else, your photographs.  As a wedding photographer I cannot tell you how many times I hear brides and grooms say how quickly the wedding day passes and how thankful they are to have beautiful wedding images to help them remember it.

So when you are planning for your big day think about the gravity you place in your most valuable memories.  Search for a photographer that you absolutely love and can trust to make this moment last forever.
